A sad love story.

India is a land of diverse cultures and customs……. ;-)
India is also the home of some of the most famous love stories in the world……Indian love stories reflect the societal norms and beliefs of the people of the land and reaffirm our faith in the power of love. A very famous Indian love story is that of Heer and Ranjha in the Punjab.
Heer Salati was the daughter of a very wealthy man in a village in Punjab. Ranjha was the native of another village (Takht Hazara) and he was the youngest son of an indulgent father. Because of his father’s indulgence, Ranjha did not have to work in the fields like his brothers, but played flute for the whole day and led a life of luxury…….He left his home after a quarrel with his brothers over farm land and came to Heer’s village……
Heer offered him a job as the caretaker of her father’s cattle and was enthralled by the way Ranjha played the flute…..:)
They fell in love with each other and met secretly for many years before Heer’s jealous uncle found out about them…… Heer was forced to marry another man named Saida Khera……. Heart broken, Ranjha left the village and wandered off to distant places……
After many trials and tribulations, the lovers were united but only in death, as Heer’s jealous uncle Kaido poisoned the food which the lovers were supposed to take on their wedding day…..A ver sad ending….. :-(

” love is Indeed Blind :-(
God bless us all.....:)
